Is CapivaraOS affiliated with the Fedora Project?

No. CapivaraOS is an independent community project that uses Fedora as its base, the same way other Fedora-based distros do. Fedora is a registered trademark of Red Hat, Inc.

Why is CapivaraOS based on Fedora?

Fedora offers a predictable release cycle, up-to-date packages, and robust official tooling for building custom images (kickstart, livemedia-creator, and Anaconda). This keeps each distro in the family aligned with upstream without reinventing the wheel.

What's the difference between Marsh, Pup and Snout?

Marsh uses KDE Plasma, with a global menu and dock — a complete, highly customizable desktop. Pup uses Xfce, lighter, designed for computers with at least 4GB of RAM. Snout uses Fedora Workstation's stock GNOME, with no layout customization — for those who prefer plain GNOME. All three share the same visual identity and Brazilian Portuguese ready out of the box.

What are the minimum hardware requirements?

We're still defining the official requirements for each distro. Pup, being lighter, is designed to run well starting at 4GB of RAM. This page will be updated with more precise numbers as testing progresses.

Is there an ISO to download yet?

Yes! All three editions — Marsh (KDE Plasma), Pup (Xfce) and Snout (GNOME) — have a public beta release. Grab them on the Download page, where each one lists its link and SHA-256 checksum.

Is CapivaraOS free?

Yes. It's a non-profit free software project, maintained by a community.
