About CapivaraOS
Short description
CapivaraOS is a family of Brazilian Linux distributions based on Fedora, with its own visual identity, Brazilian Portuguese out of the box, and the calm — and stubborn — personality of the capybara. Three spins, three desktop environments: Marsh (KDE Plasma), Pup (Xfce), and Snout (GNOME).
Full description
CapivaraOS started as a community project with a simple idea: Linux that feels Brazilian from the very first boot. Each spin runs on Fedora 44, ships with Brazilian Portuguese by default, and carries a visual identity inspired by the capybara — Brazil's most relaxed and most beloved animal.
There are three spins to choose from. Marsh (KDE Plasma) is the original, with a global menu and bottom dock for people who like a full, customizable setup. Pup (Xfce) is the lighter option, comfortable on machines with at least 4 GB of RAM. Snout (GNOME) goes the clean route — stock Fedora GNOME, with CapivaraOS branding.
All three share the same look — same logo, same colors, same boot theme — but each stays true to its own desktop environment. Free, open-source, and available for 64-bit computers (x86_64).
