Version Life Cycle

Each CapivaraOS series corresponds to a Fedora release. Support for each series ends when the base Fedora reaches end of life (EOL). Dates below are approximate and follow the official Fedora calendar.

In-place updates starting from Series 2

Starting with Series 2, CapivaraOS will support in-place updates for both major versions and sub-versions — no need to reformat or reinstall the system. Users will be able to update between sub-versions (e.g. 2.0 → 2.1) and migrate to the next major version (e.g. Series 3.x, based on Fedora 46) directly from the system, following the same upgrade model as Fedora. Series 1.x versions will not include this feature.

Fedora 45 beta released. Preparation of Series 2.x begins.

Fedora 45 released. Series 2.x starts being built on this base.

In-place updates

Series 2 debuts with in-place updates for major versions and sub-versions. No need to reformat.

Fedora 44 reaches end of life. All of Series 1.x (Marsh, Pup, Snout and Herd) ends support.

Fedora 45 reaches end of life. Series 2.x ends support. Series 3.x (Fedora 46) should already be available.

How dates are determined

Methodology and references used to calculate the calendar.

Each series' life cycle is tied to its base Fedora release. A CapivaraOS version reaches end of support approximately one month after the corresponding Fedora is declared EOL — which happens roughly 13 months after its release, or when the second subsequent Fedora version is released.

Dates here are estimates based on the official Fedora Project calendar. Fedora may delay or advance releases; when that happens, the CapivaraOS calendar follows automatically.
